At first all of the original healers had started off as herbalists, performing 'miracles' with their plants... and it was that knowing that caught the attention of the Holy Sprites.

Most healers seen outside of their holy city (or not from the holy city at all) have been granted their healing powers by the Holy Sprites that roam the lands in secret. Some didn't even ask for their healing powers... as the Holy Sprites saw potential in a human and thrust that power upon them.
